Students vs. Staff Volleyball Game

The girls volleyball team at Castro Elementary recently went toe-to-toe with staff members and came out victorious for the first game. Students who donated for the canned food drive were able to watch on the sidelines and cheer thier favorite team on.

Canned Food Drive

Students at Castro Elementary and student council members recently gathered together to collect cans which were donated to the Mission Food Pantry which will help local families in need. Thank you to all who donated.

Celebrate Uniqueness!

MCISD's Early Childhood/PPCD units recently had a banquet to celebrate uniqueness. Parents were guest speakers and discussed strategies and personal anecdotes for coping and to motivate each other in order to create a strong support system. Thank you to all who were in attendance.

MOCK ELECTION

With the upcoming election right around the corner, Castro Elementary students participated in a mock election to get insight on the voting process. Results from that election showed Hillary Clinton as the next president with 223 votes.

CASTRO STUDENTS AND STAFF SUPPORT ANTI-BULLYING CAMPAIGN

October 19 has been designated as National Unity Day for Bullying Prevention, and in observance, students and staff wore orange. This was a day where everyone could come together – in schools, communities, and online – to send one large ORANGE message of support, hope, and unity to show that we are together against bullying and united for kindness, acceptance and inclusion.

RED RIBBON KICKOFF

In honor of Red Ribbon Week our Castro Elementary Student Council will be holding their first fundraiser. This event will run from October 17-20th. There will be 4 jars with participants names and pictures. The jar with the most votes will be the lucky "winner". The winner will have to paint their hair red in honor of Red Ribbon Week. Each vote will cost $1.00. Students who cast a vote will receive access to enter our Red Ribbon Week Kickoff Pep Rally on October 21, 2016.
