SCHOOL UNIFORMS

Castro students are required to wear the designated school uniform. For the 2017-2018 school year, students will wear the royal blue Castro t-shirt with jeans on Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, students will continue to wear the designated gray district t-shirt. Please ensure that shirts are tucked in and jeans are not ripped in accordance with the Student Dress Code/Code of Conduct.

School shirts can be purchased at MCM located at 1302 N. Conway Ave or at Valley Sports located at 1108 N. Conway Ave. MCM will also be on campus during Meet the Teacher night on August 22nd selling uniform bundles.

KIDS GIVING BACK TO KIDS

Student council members and platinum/gold readers recently visited Renaissance Children's Hospital in order to give back to the community. Their goal was to help put a smile on the patients face and brighten their day. Students created get well cards and goodie bags with books and also donated special Build-A-Bear stuffed animals.

Renaissance National Honor Roll

Castro Elementary was one of three campuses in MCISD to earn the award for honor roll through the accelerated reader program, Renaissance Place. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work through the AR program.

Autism Awareness Campaign

Recently Castro Elementary kicked off the Autism Awareness Campaign to raise funds for the cause. The students in Mrs. Ramirez's 1st grade class and Ms. Estacio's ECH class raised the most funds are were rewarded with a picnic and water balloon toss.

MyOn Access

Summer is just around the corner and we are encouraging our students to read during the summer. Don't have a book to read? No problem! Beginning May 1st, all students will have access to MyOn at school as well as at home. It will be available through August 31st.

CASTRO PARTICIPATES IN TEXAS READS ONE BOOK PROGRAM

Captain Joaquin Castro Elementary participated in the annual Texas Reads One Book. All students and teachers tuned in on Monday morning to follow along as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Jason Garrett, read the first chapter of the book The Lemonade War. Parents were also invited to attend and make a craft with their child.
